Introduction to Rune Casting
The word ‘rune’ means secret, mystery, or whisper. Today they are well known as a divinatory tool, but the beauty and true potential of Rune Casting is often overlooked. In its fullest form Rune Casting combines the knowledge the practitioner has accumulated about each of the runes with deep inner connections built between the practitioner and his or her spirit guides and the inner worlds of the runes and Northern tradition.
This intensive two day course will open up deep connections to your runes and spirit guides, develop your seership skills, and prepare you to give readings using rune spreads and rune casting (throwing the runes upon a cloth and reading them intuitively). The course covers the historical and contemporary uses of the runes but the majority of the group’s time is spent on practical exercises designed to build your connection with spirit, enhance your psychic skills and practice your rune reading.
Before the course you will be sent pre-reading (taking 1-2 hours) and a recorded path working. In a small group setting we will:
- create a safe space to work in
- explore the movements and patterns of Wyrd in your life
- works with the Norns and Odin
- journey to meet with your personal guides
- develop your ’kennings’ (your own knowledge and experience with the individual runes)
- work with rune spreads (the runes laid in a particular pattern) on day one, and rune castings on day two (including a number of different casting cloths)
You will receive a casting cloth as part of the course but will need to bring your own rune set. The course is led by Magin Rose, a rune practitioner with some fifteen years of experience in rune divination and crafting.
To participate you will need to have a basic knowledge of the Elder Futhark (your manual will include a reference guide). You do not need to have given psychic readings before but readers from different backgrounds who want to learn to work with the runes are very welcome – Magin is also a qualified tarot reader and has worked with a number of other systems so will be able to relate these to rune work.
For more information about rune casting, visit the rune casting pages on Magin’s blog.
Completion of this course makes you eligible for Rune Practitioner (Rune Casting stream).
